“miles but-“

“sorry mi vida, just give me a few minutes okay? i’ll be back before you know it!” miles cut you off as he rushed out of the apartment, leaving you disappointed that your date with him was canceled once again.

you wanted to spend the whole day with miles but it looks like you were now going to spend it with milo.

“well..” milo grinned as he walked over to you.

“looks like we’ve got the place to ourselves, huh?” he had a triumphant look in his eyes, and he couldn’t help but show a condescending smile as he spoke.

“milo, stop. im not in the mood.” you sighed, turning away to not face him as you rubbed your temples.

he raised an eyebrow, coming to a stop a few inches behind you, his right knee bumping one of your left’s. he set a hand on your shoulder, grinning at you.

“something goin on, ma?” milo asked in his signature drawl, a small smirk breaking through his facade of apathy.

the last few days, you had been thinking about ending the affair between you and milo. you felt bad for meeting up with him behind miles’ back, but you couldn’t help it, being with milo felt so good that you seemed to forget everything.

but then, the guilt started to eat you up, feeling horrible to miles as he didn’t know anything that has been happening. you were planning to confront milo tonight after spending the day with miles but looks like time had other plans for you.

“you know damn well what’s going on.” you spat out, still not sparing him a glance.

it went on for 3 weeks, almost a month, this affair with milo had to stop before it could lead to more trouble.

milo let his hand fall to his lap, his smile growing as he moved up to you side, his arms wrapping around your waist loosely and his chin resting on your shoulder.

“how did you come to this conclusion?” he teased, chuckling under his breath before kissing your cheek.

“stop.. stop..” you tried to push him off, knowing his affection were your weaknesses, but it only made his grip around you tighter.

he smirked, a few gentle nibbles to your ear earning a grunt out of you.

“nah, im comfortable.” he chuckled, gently nipping at a portion of your earlobe.

“but do tell me more about what’s up.” milo teased, his smirk broadening as your protests were cut off by his playful affection.

“y-you..” you tried to focus on what you were going to say to him but his kisses distracting you.

“me, and?” he whispered into your ear, a small chuckle escaping him as he kissed your cheek again. milo could feel your body shiver at the sensation, his free hand running up your spine.

“and…? speak up, mami.” you couldn’t speak, even if you wanted to, you melted onto his touch as your mind became hazy from his affection.

a chuckle left him as he could hear your breathing grow heavy. it made his smirk grow wider.

“still nothing? aw….” milo teased in your ear, his voice a low whisper as he landed a soft kiss on your cheek once more

he pulled back enough to look down on her, letting her take in a deep breath before speaking again.

“how about now…?”

“w-what? why did you stop?” you asked with confusion contorting up in your face.

“i never stop for long.” he said.

“now are you gonna talk to me, mami, or should I shut you up and keep going?” milo teased, his smirk growing wider.

“keep going..” you mumbled, lowering your head in embarrassment. damn it, this boy knew how to get to me and now, i couldn’t confront him anymore!

milo chuckled, his hands squeezing more at your waist, keeping you tight against him as he laid another kiss on your ear, cheek and, neck, letting you soak in the feeling of his kisses.

“now, tell me about why you’re upset.” he whispered into your ear, the smell of his cologne bringing a faint sense of security to you, his warm breathe heating the side of your head.

“because..” you couldn’t continue talking as you felt his lips on your neck, kissing the one spot that he knows that makes you go feral.

milo chuckled into your ear, his lips finding the soft flesh of your throat and nibbling at it gently as he ran a hand through your hair.

“you’re so cute when you’re flustered.” he teased, pulling back and giving you a gentle smile as his hand returned to your waist.

“go on..”

“you..” you tried to hold onto something as you felt his euphoric touching all over your body.

“me, what?” milo chuckled, nibbling at your earlobe again.

“you can’t keep me guessing forever, mami.” he said, his hands wrapping around your waist again as his mouth stayed near your ear. his hand cupped your chin and slowly pivoted you to face his gaze.

“come on, say it.” milo teased, pulling away with a smirk. his hand ran from your chin to the side of your face, tilting your head so you can see his smirk.

“what’s bugging you?” he gave you a chance to talk.

“we can’t keep doing this, milo.” you finally managed to let him know.

“i can’t keep doing this.” you said sternly, trying to seem serious.

milo froze for a moment, his eyes widening just a little before he broke into a smile.

“you’re still on about that?” he teased, his eyes twinkling playfully as he looked over your face.

“c’mon, mami. doesn’t my affection make it feel worth it?” he teased, his hand running over her cheek.

“yes but..” you began to melt in his touch again.

“no, no! stop.” you softly smacked his hand away, not wanting to fall for his tricks again. you look away from him, sensing that he may distract you to confront him again.

milo didn’t flinch when you smacked his hand away, a smirk gracing his face. a small chuckle left him as one of his hands wrapped around your waist and pulled you closer.

“that never works, mami.” he said, his breath leaving his mouth warm on your skin as he placed a soft kiss on your shoulder.

“you’ll talk eventually…”

“it’s been almost a month, milo.. i can’t keep doing this to miles..” you said, feeling his chest press against your back as he hugged you from behind.

a small chuckle left him as he kissed your neck again, the feeling of his lips against your skin, making you gasp. his free hand squeezed at your waist gently, caressing you while his other held your hip.

“come on, y/n.. what miles doesn’t know won’t hurt him..” he teased, leaning in near your ear and placing another soft kiss in the center of your ear before stepping back.

“milo.. he’s your brother, for gods sake..” milo only smirked, leaning further in.

“yeah, he’s my brother but..” *he chuckled, his hand on your hip squeezing a bit. he looked into your eyes playfully as he kissed your cheek.

“i liked you first.” he teased as he kissed at the other cheek.

“but i’m his girlfriend..” you mumbled under your breath, feeling disappointed at milo and you.

“dont worry, mami.” milo kissed her once more, pulling back.

“besides, if you didn’t like what we have, you would’ve stopped meeting up with me.” his smirk broadened.

“but you didn’t. you know why?” he teased, his voice dropping low, a teasing grin on his face.

“cause you like it..”

“i… i don’t.” you glared at him, trying to appear as if you hated this.

“you sure bout that, ma?” milo smirked as he moved closer towards you. he pressed up against you a little bit more with his hands trailing down your body, caressing you sensually.

“cause if you really didn’t like this shit, then you would’ve stopped from the very beginning.”

your breath hitched, knowing that milo was fully right about what he said, but before you could deny and protest, he had kissed you to shut you up.

milo’s lips were soft and passionate, his body pressing against yours tightly. he didn’t give you a chance to escape as he kissed you deeply and passionately. his hands were slowly trailing down your body as the feeling of his touch made you weak in the knees. you couldn’t resist him, and he knew it. with his touch, he would make you forget about everything else…

milo smirked in the kiss when he felt your arms snaked up to his neck, pulling him even closer. he continued to kiss you passionately, clearly taking advantage of your weakness, but you didn’t care, you were lost in the moment of the kiss. his lips were soft and tender against yours, and you couldn’t help but savor every bite of it. he took it to another level, deepening the kiss and making it more intense.

he was making sure that you forgot about everything else, and focused only on him…

milo then took your legs, wrapping them around his waist as he carried you to his bedroom as the both of you continued making out. he placed you on the bed, and he was already on top of you, kissing you passionately. his lips were gentle yet firm, as they pressed up against yours. he wasn’t going to stop until he had you completely under his control.

the two of you slowly pulled away to catch your breaths as both you and milo looked into each other’s eyes.

milo looked at you intently, as he brushed his fingers through your hair. his eyes had a knowing look in them, as if he could see right through you. he began to nibble on your neck. his hands were already on your blouse, unbuttoning it slowly.

before milo could even get to the 2nd button, milo’s door had suddenly opened, making both you and milo stop.

“milo, have you seen y/n-“ miles immediately stopped as he saw the scene unfold in front of him.

“what the hell..” miles was in disbelief.

Sunday, June 9, 10:48 AM Lordly Tailor Shopping Mall

Ashen closes their eyes and breathes in deep through their nose, taking in the scent of their surroundings.

Ah, that new book smell. One that Ashen doesn't get to experience as often as they would like, but a welcome one nonetheless.

They open their eyes and examine the shelves of the newly opened bookstore with a determined look. They've been wanting to come here since the grand opening only a few weeks ago, and they're going to explore every single nook and cranny, no matter what.

They turn to their date, expression unchanged.

"Mr. Edgeworth, is the prosecution ready?"

Edgeworth chuckles.

"The prosecution was born ready."

With a wide grin, Ashen hooks their arm around his and pulls him down the first aisle. They walk slowly, checking all the genre labels and inspecting book spines on the off chance that one jumps out. They pass by science fiction and fantasy without stopping, before the romance section catches Ashen's eye.

They stop for a second, frantically reading labels.

Come on. There has to be one here…

Beside them, Edgeworth quirks up an eyebrow. They never mentioned being interested in romance books before.

"AHA!" Ashen lets go of Edgeworth's arm before crouching down and pulling a book off the shelf. They stay in that position as they scan the cover, barely holding back a laugh.

"Edgeworth, you gotta check this shit out." They giggle, holding the book out to him. Tentatively, he takes it and looks at the cover.

"Red Hot Wings: A Tale of Love and Claws… what the devil is this…?" He mumbles, gaping at the book in his hands.

"Dragon, actually. These quote unquote 'shapeshifter' romance novels have been picking up in popularity lately. The covers on them are some of the funniest things I've ever seen. Maya and I send pictures of our best finds to each other."

The cover on this one was particularly good. It featured a woman, only covered by a blanket, lying down. Above her is a man, halfway through transformation, caressing her face. If Ashen didn't know any better, they would say that they stole the half man half dragon straight from the cover of an Animorphs book.

"I presume, then, that this one will be sent to Miss Fey as well?" Edgeworth asks, handing the book back to them.

"Oh, absolutely. Look at this guy! He has flesh wings! It's disgusting! She's gonna love it."

Edgeworth shakes his head, smiling to himself as Ashen pulls out their phone to take a photo.

"Speaking of romance…" Edgeworth stops to clear his throat, a blush creeping its way onto his face. "You look quite handsome today."

Ashen freezes, their fingers loosening their grip and sending their phone tumbling to the ground. They curse under their breath as they pick it back up.

How many dates had they been on at this point…? Six? He compliments them every time and yet, they still get flustered.

"Uh, t-thanks. So do you, by the way. You look… really good." Ashen manages to stutter their way through a response.

Come on, Ashen. He gave you "handsome" and you gave him "really good"? They look to the ground, placing the book back into it's spot on the shelf.

They aren't lying, though. He does look really good. His outfit is less "casual" and more "slightly dressed down", as he's still wearing a pair of slacks and a white dress shirt, sleeves rolled up to his elbows.

Ashen, on the other hand, feels a little too casual in comparison. A pair of jeans and a plaid shirt, sleeves also rolled up, with their hair tied in a loose bun at the nape of their neck.

The concept of a "casual lunch date" was unfamiliar in this particular case. Their previous dates had all included dinner at higher end restaurants, so, Ashen was more than a little nervous. They weren't sure why, though, as the place and dress code never really mattered. All that mattered was that they were with him. A date could never be bad with him, in their eyes, and they could only dream that he felt the same way.

"-ing at, Dust?"

Ashen tunes back into reality, only to find out that Edgeworth was speaking to them.

"Hm?"

"What are you staring at over there? You seem… lost." He asks, a flash of concern washing over his face for an instant, before disappearing.

Ashen smiles softly and shakes their head, standing from their crouched position.

"It's nothing. I was just thinking about how lucky I am to be on a date with an angel." They give him a sly grin as they sidle up next to him and grab his arm again. Edgeworth stares at them blankly for a moment, then, it clicks.

"You…!"

"Come on, we still have so much left to see!" Ashen starts walking down the aisle again, red-faced Edgeworth in tow.

Having seen almost everything the store has to offer, the two of them have settled in a secluded corner in the far back of the room. Ashen hadn't found anything of particular interest to them (Although, they may have to come back to get a better look at that Steel Samurai novelization they caught a glimpse of...) but Edgeworth, on the other hand, currently has his face buried in a book taken from the single shelf dedicated to law.

Ashen scans the shelves around them, hoping to find something, anything that will entertain them for the time being. Coming up short, they take a glance over at Edgeworth.

Big mistake.

With his bangs covering half of his face, it's hard to make out all of his features. What Ashen can see, however, grabs their attention.

His eyebrows are slightly furrowed in concentration, often relaxing or tightening as he reads. His eyes dart around the pages with such passion and intensity, the likes of which Ashen's never seen before. The corner of his mouth will curl slightly every so often in reaction to the words he reads, positively or otherwise.

Ashen notices every detail. Every movement. Every curve. And as they do, they realize something. They realize that the worst day of their life would be the day they could no longer see his face again, and they'll do anything to keep that day from coming.

"Edgeworth?"

"Hm? Yes?"

Before Ashen's brain can catch up, a question is already falling from their mouth.

"Can I kiss you?"

To say that you "could hear a pin drop" would be an understatement, although Ashen wasn't aware of that fact thanks to the sound of their heart trying to hammer it's way out of their chest. All they know is that Edgeworth is staring at them, eyes completely wide and face flushed, and he hasn't said a word.

"I- I'm sorry! If you don't want to, that's fine! I was just thinking that you looked really cute while you were concentrated like that and I don't know, our dates have been going really well so far so I-"

"I- Dust, please calm down!" Edgeworth puts down his book before gently grabbing both of Ashen's shoulders. Their rambles get caught in their throat before dying out. They open their mouth to apologize again, but Edgeworth cuts them off.

"I would like that."

"Wh- really?"

Without an answer, Edgeworth cups the side of Ashen's face with his hand and gives them a gentle smile. Ashen accepts that answer and crashes their lips into his, probably a bit more forcefully than needed.

Short but sweet, albeit rather clumsy. A first kiss is never perfect, but to Ashen, it's damn near close. Without even realizing it, Ashen finds themself smiling against his mouth, before breaking away and giggling quietly.

"Sorry, sorry. I'm just… really happy right now. I feel like I was waiting my whole life for that." They speak softly, looking to the ground to hide the grin on their face.

Edgeworth puts his hand under their chin and turns their face, forcing them to look at him. Then, he leans in and kisses them again.

This time, they sync up rather quickly, and Ashen completely tunes out the rest of the world. They feel as if they're the only two people to exist at this moment, and they briefly wonder if they had died and gone to heaven.

It seems Edgeworth feels similarly. Or at least, Ashen thinks so based on how much he leans into them. They end up taking a step backwards to compensate. Then, another. And another.

Then, their back hits a shelf of books, and now, Edgeworth effectively has them pinned. It takes a few seconds for Ashen to realize that even though they're leaning against the shelf, for some reason, they're still moving backwards. 

When their brain finally catches up, they break away from Edgeworth and whip around to grab onto the shelf behind them. But they're just a little too late, and the sound of books crashing to the floor can be heard from the other side. Slowly, Ashen turns their head to face Edgeworth, a nervous smile on their face.

"Ah ha ha, whoops. Uh, at least it didn't knock over the other ones…?" They mumble, mostly to themself.

Edgeworth quietly walks around the shelf to assess the damage. Luckily, the books were packed fairly tight, so only a few actually hit the ground.

"We should… clean up this mess." He says, crouching down. Ashen stands there for a moment, watching him try to put books back in their proper places as fast as possible (They may have also taken a quick photo, but they won't admit that to him), and a small laugh escapes their mouth. Next thing they know, they're doubled over in laughter, tears clouding their vision.

"What are you laughing at over there?! Come help me!" Edgeworth hisses, still embarrassed from their little fumble. Ashen laughs for another minute or so, before it finally dies down enough for them to speak.

"It's just… we're attorneys, for Christ's sake! Everyday, we're solving cases and delivering justice! Yet, it took only 30 seconds for the two of us to turn into the biggest idiots in all of Los Angeles."

Edgeworth chuckles. They're not wrong, that's for sure. He picks up the last book and is about to place it in its rightful spot before Ashen stops him.

"Wait, I want to take that one." They say, grabbing it from his hands.

"Huh. I didn't quite peg you as the philosophical type." He mumbles, standing up. Ashen looks over the cover. It's a compilation of the writings and teachings of Immanuel Kant.

"In all honesty, I'm not. I just couldn't leave here without some sort of memento of today's events."

"M-memento!? What for!?"

Ashen places their hand on his shoulder and looks deep into his eyes.

"Edgeworth. We had our first kiss and it was so good that we almost destroyed a bookstore that only opened a few weeks ago. I refuse to let myself forget this day. Now, let's go pay and get the hell out of here before we actually do break something." Ashen removes their hand and starts walking towards the front of the store. Quickly, Edgeworth grabs the law book he was reading earlier and follows them.

They get through the checkout with ease (despite the fact that they have some difficulty looking the cashier in the eyes) and make their way out of the store.

"Did you have anything specific in mind for lunch?" Edgeworth asks. Ashen snorts.

"You still want lunch? I thought you would be full by now, considering how much of my face you ate back there." They joke, smirking at him. Edgeworth groans back.

"Ashen Dust, you're the most ridiculous human I've ever had the pleasure of meeting."

"But you admit, it was a pleasure to meet me."

Edgeworth just shakes his head, a smile on his face, as he starts walking towards the mall's food court. Ashen jogs to catch up with him, and the two of them are off to finish their date.

Plot Summary: Spencer Reid just wanted to be.., well, you know. He doesn’t expect to find much when he signs up for a BDSM dating website but somehow he manages you and he couldn’t be more delighted

Spencer Reid was certainly a lot of things. He was a lover of the arts, someone who had a particular affinity for 15th-century literature, a magician at best, a theater nerd at worst, and a teacher when life called for it. He loves the world even when it's really dark and he loves sleeping in even more. He loves his friends and they love him too - even when they pretend that his random facts annoy them. Spencer Reid was a friend, an FBI agent, a genius with an IQ of 187, and a son to a mother he loves wholly. He was a lot of things and for the most part - he knew a lot about what he really loved to do. He supposed that it's been like that his whole life.

It's not everyday that he discovers something new about himself. About everything else? Always. He loves to learn, but about himself? There's never all that much on the frontier.

It's hard to say, because of that, when Spencer discovered he was a sub. It's difficult to pinpoint a specific time and place, or even how the pieces got put together. He just remembers how it felt when it hit him, like a freight train going 100 miles an hour into a concrete wall. Or a plane crashing onto an island. Or like a fly hitting the glass panes of a delivery truck. He remembers the feeling when he was deftly reminded of this fact. Spencer Reid was a sub - through and through and he wasn't really sure what to make of it.

Surprisingly to most of his direct peers, Spencer wasn't a virgin. He'd had sex with 2 people who he'd been kinda friends with at some point, but it always got a little weird after that. The second time though, the girl ended up choking him a little bit when she got off and Spencer thought he had died. Not in a bad way, more in a "I'm so turned on by this I feel like I've genuinely gone to heaven," sort of way. He didn't think it was possible for a sexual encounter to make him feel like that but it did. It didn't stop after that either, which was the most agitating part. 

Spencer doesn't consider himself a sexual person. Sex is about intimacy and companionship, and hopefully love when he finds that someday. Sex isn't necessarily about pleasure but that wasn't an easy lesson to learn.

Spencer just wanted to understand - so like any great genius he participated in thought experiments. It's normally a female superhero/supervillain that crosses his mind (he has an affinity for Poison Ivy), and he just kinda imagines what it would be like if they did what she did. The choking turned him on, but it wasn't enough. Through that, he figures out that he had more than a choking kink and that he was more than a little interested in a partner having complete access to him. He thought about it for weeks and the getting off was working for him but he couldn't get the fantasy out of his head. He wanted more - he wanted someone to fulfill his wishes.

Spencer giggles. It's a little out of range for things he's used to doing, giggling aloud for someone else is certainly new. Spencer picks up his phone and dials away, anxious to call you but excited nonetheless. He heard you pick up the phone and his heart catches in his throat.

"Hello?," Your voice is smooth, and a little bit lower than he was expecting. It sounds pretty.

"Hello, Y/N," Spencer says back. He heard you laugh on the other side and can't help the way his heart flutters.

"Lovely to talk to you doc,"

"Still Doc? Not Spencer?" Spencer questions. You smile on the other side of the line.

"Doc seems to fit you. But, for the sake of formality, hello Spencer,"

"I like Doc too, but it feels like I should have a nickname for you as well. Only seems fair," Spencer says laughing quietly.

"If it's your prerogative you can call me Miss Lilac, or just Miss but..." you trail off for a minute. Spencer squints.

"Miss is a title, you know? Doesn't seem fair for you to call me that when I haven't earned it from you yet. I'm sure we'll get there but for now you can just call me Y/N," you say softly. Spencer blushes bright red, his voice betraying him as he speaks.

"O-Oh, well um - where does the name Lilac come from? Normally people go with their names when it comes to stuff like that," Spencer says shyly. He heard you laugh on the other side of the phone and blushes again, grateful you can't see him.

"I love the language of flowers and flowers themselves. It's a way to speak that not many people know - but I like the meaning and look of lilacs. White lilacs represent purity, so that was a bit of irony, but light purple lilacs mean first love," you say carefully.

"First love?," Spencer asks. You bite your lip for a moment.

"Reid, are you listening?," Derek's voice snaps Spencer out of his entranced state. His smiling expression snaps up to look at Derek who looks a little exasperated.

"Sorry, what was that?," Spencer asks back. Derek puts down the case file they were working on. They had just finished a case and needed to complete some paperwork before submitting it for review and to be used in court. The job was given to him and Morgan and Spencer was evidently distracted.

"Alright, kid - what is up with you? All case you've been checking your phone non-stop and spacing out, all smiles and giggles. C'mon now kid, seriously. You got a little lady at home waiting for you or is there something else I don't know about?," Derek interrogates. Spencer doesn't really know what to make of it, though it's not really in his interest to hide you, it hasn't really come up with anyone on the team yet so it was proving difficult to decide what to do. The smile on his face manages to appear again as he starts to think about you, the tips of his ears red.

"Reid," Morgan says again, with a small look of irritation.

"'My man," Derek says chuckling. Before Spencer can continue Prentiss, JJ, and Garcia walk in. Hotch is the only one missing, and Spencer's a little grateful.

"What are we celebrating in here you guys?," Prentiss asks first. Spencer goes to say something to move away from his sudden confession but Derek is quick to cut him off.

"Our boy genius over here got him a little lady," Derek announces. The whole team erupts in questions and Spencer wants to bury himself.

"Congratulations, Spencer!! How long have you two been dating?," Prentiss asks.

"You guys are so dramatic. It's only been two months but no first date because well..." Spencer trails off. JJ just nods her head.

"Duty calls, I'm guessing" JJ finishes. Spencer nods deflated hearing Emily draw a breath between her teeth.

"That's tough, Spence,"

Just as Spencer goes to give a response back he gets a text from you that makes his day a little better. It's a selfie of you at work, a picture your employee must've taken of you in a room full of new flower deliveries. You're giving Spencer a toothy grin as you hold a bunch of gardenias in your hand.

"Have you two FaceTimed yet? How can we know she's not, I don't know - catfishing you? Or scamming you in some other cyber criminal way?," Garcia sounds distressed. Spencer gives a small smile.

"We fall asleep over FaceTime every night," Spencer admits. Penelope's expression falls, and Prentiss gives a smile.

"That is disgustingly cute," JJ says laughing.

"Okay, well - I'm still running a background check on her," Garcia says stubbornly "But, I'm happy for you,"

"Thanks Garcia," Spencer mumbles out as he texts you again.

"I'll take it Spence, try not to look as uncomfortable as you do right now," JJ says. The whole team refrains from laughing as Spencer gives an awkward smile. He thanks JJ who hands him back his phone before texting you again.

Emily, JJ, and Garcia just look at each other before the room draws into a subtle but comfortable silence as Spencer just smiles, totally unaware of how whipped he happened to look. "How was work?," Spencer asks over the phone, kicking his shoes off as he looks into his fridge for something to eat. He hears you sigh on the other side of the line.

"Busy today - wedding season is coming up so tons of calls for centerpiece designs and costs. It's going well though, business couldn't be better," you say, clearly tired yet content. Spencer gives a small smile and feels relieved that things are going okay for you.

"That's really good. I'm glad you're feeling alright," Spencer replies. You ease into the couch as you talk to Spencer, relaxing by the second. 

"What about you, FBI man? You have an okay day?," Your voice is full of a gentle concern that Spencer appreciates.

"Yeah, just paperwork and JJ said that we shouldn't have any upcoming cases this week to be worried about so I have the weekend off," Spencer says without thought.

"Have any special plans for the weekend?," you say cheekily. Spencer, still not having caught on, shakes his head for a second.

"No, why?,"

"Hm... well - would you like to go on a date with me then Doctor Reid?," You ask, giggling. Spencer's eyes widen in realization as he facepalms for a moment.

"Wow, I didn't even think... yes - yes I would love to go on a date with you Y/N," Spencer says laughing at his own misfortune. You shake your head instinctively, but the growing smile and even further growing adoration makes it hard to sit still.

"Hey, Spencer," you say, butterflies filling your stomach.

"Yeah?"

Saturday comes quicker than Spencer can really understand. You told him not to worry about what the days plans would be but he can't help it. Anxiously awaiting you in front of the cafe that the two of you were supposed to meet at, in a part of town Spencer hasn't really seen before. You said that you'd lead the way and the irony isn't lost on him.

"Spencer?," Your voice is small, as you call out to what you think is Spencer Reid. Of course, you'd seen him before but to see him in person like this was still so unfamiliar. His head shoots up, eyes searching for you. He's delighted to have found you, certainly that was true as he walks towards you. Your arms envelop him in a friendly hug and he can't help but find himself sinking into. You smelled sweet, like fruit and flowers (which makes sense, the more he thinks about it)

"Lovely to finally meet you, Y/N,"

"Same goes for you, doc. Would you like to be informed of our plans for the day, or do you prefer the element of surprise?,"  You ask smiling. Spencer laughs at your question.

"Details would be appreciated, but I get the feeling you're not gonna give me those."

"You're right! It's a trick question, since it's a surprise. But, promise it'll be good,"

"I'll take your word for it then," Spencer says with a small smile. You hold your hand out for Spencer which he accepts, locking his hands with yours. The affection makes him feel full of warmth, as you lead him away for the day you had planned for the both of you.

Spencer underestimated how well you knew him. He really, really did. It's hard to explain since Spencers been on a date before but this was so profoundly different. He's a little touched, but beyond that he's just.. surprised? Every date he'd been on before this, he'd have to play the gentleman but it never seemed like the other person was interested in just him. It was always casual small-talk over dinner, or a mid-day coffee date or something else that just felt mundane but this was beyond Spencer's imagination.

The first place you took him was a bookstore - which was in Spencers mind already a winner for best date he'd ever been on. You walked inside with him and told him he had to pick up a book for you and you had to pick up a book for him and to say his heart absolutely fluttered would be an understatement. He picked up up a copy of "The Screwtape Tales," by C.S. Lewis for you, and you gave him a copy of Shel Silverstein's "Where The Sidewalk Ends." For you, you got a glimpse to see what Spencer's sense of humor was and you gave Spencer a piece of your childhood. Both equal but opposite forms of intimacy. The only thing was Spencer had to wait to read his book because it's relatively shorter than yours and he reads 20,000 words per minute.

The next place you took Spencer was an indoor butterfly garden. Does he have to explain why that's a good date? He heard you talk about all the scientific names for the different flowers and why they attract butterflies and he wasn't sure he could crush any harder on you if he tried. A particular moment sticks out to him on which a butterfly landed on your shoulders and just stayed there like it didn't want to leave. Spencer's eyes were fixated on it the whole time - and he had never wanted to be a butterfly in his life before but he figures there's a first time for everything.

The last place, where the both of you were at now was just a small coffee shop, locally owned and supported by the community here. You told Spencer that when you started up your shop, you'd come in here to work on big orders before you'd expanded enough to have employees. Spencer admires your work ethic, much more than he could ever anticipate as he sits down at a small booth, totally covering the both of you as you return to the table with a little plate of banana bread and two iced coffees. Spencer pouts as he looks up at you, watching you flash him a grin.

"I could've helped you carry this over," Spencer complains gently. You roll your eyes.

"Maybe next time doc," you say softly. You hold back your commentary often on the date, and Spencer pretends not to notice for your sake but he'd be lying if he said he didn't wanna know. You always had something sly to say but you'd kept it from him so many times now he figures it's better if he didn't ask.

Spencer looks at you as you push a plate of banana bread towards him. He looks at you with curious eyes before reading your clearly excited face and laughs. He picks up a piece and examines it, before taking a bite. If it tasted as good as it smelled then he would be more than obliged.

The involuntary moan that escapes Spencer's throat makes you choke with laughter. Shit, you weren't kidding when you said this was the best banana bread in the city. Spencer just looks up at you like he's about to cry with joy as you double over in giggles.

"I know," You say softly, taking a bite yourself eyes filling with joy "I ordered some more for us to take home - you're welcome," you say with confidence. Spencer smiles because that is genuinely thoughtful, but it was more endearing to see you pretend it wasn't. He just shakes his head, a blush arising to his face as he looks at you. You're staring at him with intent. He quirks his brow at you in question.

"I had a good time today, Spencer" You say warmly. You only called him Spencer when you were saying something affectionate and a bit serious. He gives you a toothy smile.

"I haven't been on very many dates, but this was easily the best one I'd ever been on," Spencer says honestly. You grin ear to ear, hands carefully holding Spencer across the table, running your thumb over his knuckles for a few seconds. You couldn't say for sure whether it was too soon to ask him to be your boyfriend, but you'd be damned if you said it didn't cross your mind.

Spencer was mind-numbingly unaware of what good boyfriend material he was, but beyond that - what good submissive boyfriend material he was. It was driving you nuts, but you knew this was all new for him and you didn't wanna freak him out. Even when guys say they're interested in being submissive, they're still often times uncomfortable with you being fully dominant. Dominant in public and in bed, if you will. You wanted to pay for dates, and buy him flowers, and make him feel special too - at least on the occasion. "What're you worried about?,"

"I'm worried about freaking you out. I can be a lot since I'm... you know?," You say nervously. Spencer looks at you  to continue.

"I'm more than just dominant in bed, and for a lot of guys it's not their thing and that's their right but I like you so much. I really don't want that to happen if I ask you out now and you realize that it's not for you," you say in clear upset.

Spencer looks at you in disbelief. You were worried that he was gonna freak out over that? That you were too dominant for him? It feels like such a silly concern but the expression on your face tells him you're speaking from experience.

"If that ever changes, I'll tell you but I'd really like to call you my girlfriend," Spencer finishes. You can't help the warmth that spreads in your stomach at the offer. You just nod, looking up at him. You stand and walk to Spencer's side of the booth, sliding in next to him, leaning your head into his shoulder for a few while seconds. You sit back up, and Spencer turns to you.

"Hey, doc," you say softly. Spencer hums in acknowledgement.

"Can I kiss you?," you ask softly. Spencer chews his lip and nods, looking down at your lip. You're wearing lipgloss and it makes them look pretty - you are so pretty to Spencer.

Kisses are their own language, Spencer figures. The way someone kisses you can tell you a lot about who they are - so, when you put your hands on the side of Spencer's face, pulling him closer to you with such care and adoration - Spencer can feel what you were referencing earlier. The word Miss rings out in his mind, the way you pay attention to him with your hands. He feels your lips press against his, slowly gliding your fingers in his hair, thumb brushing agains the side of his cheek. How do you get people to always buy your dragons? Genuine question

i was gonna say something like “haha i have no fucking clue” but that would be a lie i think about this a lot actually so i might have some insights i’ve been breeding dragons as my primary activity on FR since i started playing FR (in 2014...) and people have only started actually buying dragons from me consistently like, 5-6 months ago, despite 2-3 attempts at running a genuine hatchery onsite that always died due to lack of interest & not really being worth the effort. 

so ive thought a lot about what the hell is happening now and why my dragons are suddenly consistently selling and I think ive come down to these being the main points of advice i can give: 1. make friends! be friendly! don’t be weird! be a cool and fun person to interact with! 2. post consistently. post your dragons consistently. post about other stuff consistently. just be an active member of the community 3. POST YOUR SHIT IN THE “#FLIGHT RISING” TAG. THIS IS PROBABLY THE ONLY TRUELY HELPFUL THING I SAY IN THIS POST 4. make pairs that are sexy as hell and be openly proud of them. make dragons and pairs that you like, not what you think will necessarily sell. people can tell when you like stuff and being genuinely passionate about something, whatever the fuck it is, will get other people passionate as well longer versions/explanations under the cut because man this got a mile long. i wasn’t kidding when i said i think about this a lot and i am so sorry if you wanted something concise and useful

2. being consistent! just. posting consistently! posting Every Hatchling I Have and Talking About Them On Tumblr!  Once I had a couple nests just sell super fast likely due to aforementioned clout, i was emboldened to just post more of my nests more often and I swear this has more effect than anything else. i just needed the self-esteem boost to Start Doing That posting consistently makes ppl follow u for ur content which gets even more people to look at your dragons which gets more people to buy your dragons.

2a. Also just post a lot in general, even if you aren’t necessarily posting about your dragons for sale. it definitely helps! just be friendly and active and people will come

3. post your shit in the tag. not in “#dragon-sales” or “#fr-dragon-sales” or anything weird like that because I don’t know if anyone actually looks at those, but people definitely browse “#flight rising”. no matter how many followers you have, more people will see your content if you post it in #flight rising than if you just chuck it into the void.

3a. however! do not put links into the post if you want it to actually show up in the tag. tumblr is cool in that it doesn’t actually matter that much when you post something, the same way it really matters on twitter bc twitter has algorithms that decide for you what it thinks you want to be seeing whereas tumblr just shows you everything in chronological order. if you post something into the tag at 1am... it will still be there at 2pm when people log on and start scrolling.

the only thing tumblr seems to consistently hide from a tag (and possibly a dashboard, but idk) are posts with links in them, as a half-assed attempt to limit spam. instead of linking to your sales tab/to the dragons directly in the post, reblog it with the links instead. to reduce latency between a post going up and the links being available, i type out the links in the initial post, cut them, post the thing into the tag, then very quickly reblog, paste the links, and post the reblog jdhfsdf. i don’t know if that benefits anything really? but it can sometimes take me a while to type links, so if i posted, pressed reblog, typed up all the links, then posted, it’d be like ~15 minutes where someone may see the post, think “oh i would like to buy those dragons”, then can’t find the link, think “oh well, i will just find it later”, scroll on, and just... completely forget about it. so uh. go quick?

3b. the armchair sociologist in me also thinks self-reblogging has the added benefit of like... you know how people are more likely to tip a barista when a dollar is already in the tip jar? or how people are more likely to take one of those little tabs on a flyer if one of them is already missing? i think that works with notes, too. i don’t know why i think that or why it happens i just swear once a post gets 1 note, suddenly it gets Even More Notes, and if it doesn’t get any notes for a while it will sit at 0 notes until the end of time. so giving yourself 1 obligatory note makes people more likely to interact. i think

4. all of these are hard to quantify but this one is especially so: have cool and unique dragons. make your pairs sexy as hell. don’t put all your eggs (hah) into the one basket of selling dragons that are technically “popular”. we have all seen triple white/triple obsidian/triple orca/triple any other popular colors and cherub/pere/stained or wasp/bee/glim pthahlos or whatever. they’re pretty! we get it! but everyone has had one and everyone has had those pairs and market for dragons like that can be super oversaturated. try to break free from that and sell dragons that people can only get from you. I can’t tell you what to do though bc that rly depends on you. make pairs that you find exciting or interesting and people will feel that. i have a very specific theme and aesthetic that i don’t feel like is especially common on FR and i am genuinely very enthusiastic about it. marine shit is my Thing:tm: both on and off FR and dragons are one of my many ways of expressing that   if you have a Thing:tm:, either some fr-centric aesthetic (like being super into plague or earth or light or something) or something more general (such as any of the -punks or -cores)... just fuckin roll with it honestly. if you’re goth? make got h dragons. like scene stuff that looks straight out of a middle school in 2010? rock that hot-topic lair. outdoorsey type? make dragons that look like you’d meet them on a hike in the woods. it really works with anything!  people can tell when you really love something and i know that seeing someone really love something, even if it’s not necessarily MY thing, makes me really excited too!!

4a. never show fear. people can smell fear. never be like “well this one isn’t that good” because suddenly now you’ve planted the idea that it’s ugly in other people’s heads when they may have really liked it had you not accidentally suggested to them that it’s an ugly dragon. people are EXTREMELY suggestible to even VERY minor cues so be always a little bit bolder than you think you should be you’d be surprised at how many times ive been like “eh, this one’s kind of a dud, i’ll probably have to exalt this one when the auction expires” and then that hatchling is the first to sell. never ever ever ever decide what other people like for them. always act like your dragons are the hottest shit in all the land and Believe It. this is what people mean when they say “fake it till you make it”

- 4b. also, idk if it’s true of everyone but it’s really off-putting to see someone having serious pity-parties for themselves, on sales posts or otherwise. ive had bad experiences with people who are uncomfortably quick to self-depreciate (because they were using their genuine self-hatred to manipulate me or my friends), so i might be a little more trigger-happy about avoiding this behavior than others, but don’t weaponize your sadness to guilt people into doing what you want. it’s really not cool.

i don’t post about all the times i have to exalt dragons that don’t sell. you are seeing me being very selective about what i post. you dont sit and stare at my lair or click through offspring lists or check old sales posts. there are a lot of times where someone just doesn’t sell. even now when i’m selling stuff pretty consistently i will still sometimes have dragons that don’t sell for seemingly no reason. even dragons I think are sure to sell will sometimes just... not. and that’s ok! you gotta just be.. ok with that. it’s par for the course. i typically list dragons for 7 days on the AH, give them a couple more days after their auction expires (partially because i forget, partially to give them a grace period for people to pm/ask me about them), and then exalt them after that point. w/ some dragons that i don’t think got a fair shake for one reason or another (such as the sales post not showing up in the tag or something) i do a little clearance (like the halloween dragons i recently posted) but for the most part if they don’t sell, i just exalt them. 90% of the time i don’t even bother to level them up i just press the exalt button and call it a day. it’s fine

in no particular order bc that would kill me:

1. Oikawa Tooru (Haikyuu!!)

i love every single character in this heckin anime, but oikawa rly messes up w all my feelings. im too weak for characters w gap moe, even if its the ‘looks very nice, is actually a bit of a demon’ kind and not the other way around, lmao. the thing abt oikawa is that he twists in and out of himself; he is handsome, charismatic and endearing at first glance, but hes also cunning and easily overcome by feelings of jealousy, inferiority and egoism. even so, hes an observant and hardworking leader who places his strength on the strength of his team as a whole, never thinking himself higher than his teammates. oikawa looks like he got everything easily, looks like hes a genius, but everything he has he worked very hard for. oikawa built himself to be a winner but never got the victory he wanted the most. nothing w oikawa is as it looks, and that why i cant help but love him.

2. Noiz (DRAMAtical Murder)

u knew he was going to be here, its gotta count for something that i, at least, didnt put him on number 1 too lmAO

just like oikawa, i fell victim to noizs gap moe as well. i mean, u give me a delinquent in weird clothes whos rude to everyone, pushy and even violent, and then turns out hes like a little kid at heart who buys foods without knowing their names, who doesnt know when to stop fighting bc he doesnt feel pain and no one ever cared abt his safety and thinks hes a monster bc of his insensitivity and silently suffers bc of it, ofc im gonna lay down my life for him. im gonna die for noiz ya hear me

theres not many scenes in anything that fucks me up more than the scene (that didnt make into the anime, sob) where he fights w aoba as theyre hiding in the oval tower, and then he tells aoba abt his insensitivity to pain and aoba pulls him down to him and tells noiz the world isnt as bad as he thinks and makes noiz slowly open up to him and learn from aoba how is it like to care abt someone else. its beautiful to see him, whos so young but is both hardened by the ugliness of the world hes seen and ignorant to the good things the world still has to offer, finally open himself up and make the first steps towards growth, and meaning to grow beside the one he fell in love with. im soft. my heart was found full of love.

3. Olivier Mira Armstrong (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)

ive been in love w this woman since i first read the manga and when i watched the anime i died, thats the story

just like haikyuu!!, i love every single character in this anime, like, im physically Incapable of hating any of them. but olivier stands out for me. i think theres people who prolly had a bad impression from her as she antagonized ed and al right when she showed up, but young me was in awe of her attitude and her strong resolve in seeing for herself what ed and al were worth. shes known as ‘the ice queen of briggs’ and she leads her men with an iron fist, but its also clear that shes fair and values the life of every one of her subordinates, like when buccaneer and the others were late in coming back to the surface after their rescue mission and thought they would be left for dead, only to find that olivier had subtly made sure they would be received any time they came back.

her confidence in her own judgement, how she dealt w miles’ conflict as an amestris soldier and part ishvallan and the way she doesnt rly give a fuck abt whats lawful and correct and goes through with the things she herself considers right, are all things i love so much abt her. when i was a kid i even tried to get my hair to be like hers LMAO

4. Kinomoto Sakura (Cardcaptor Sakura)

cardcaptor sakura was my first true anime. i did watch saint seiya and naruto on tv around that time as well, but cardcaptor sakura was the first one i actually watched in full and then rewatched again and again and obsessed over, lmao.

i was rly, rly young then. not a baby anymore, def; i was about 10-12? it was an age at which i was building my own personality. honestly, at that point in time i think i was already kinda Messed Up, lmao; id get on Moods and be rly depressed and then super cranky, and i was always socially awkward. sakura made a huge impression on me; it just seemed like her attitude made everything better. she talked to everyone and had lots of friends and it seemed like she had a lot of fun like that. i tried to be more cheerful like that (i wanted roller blades too but i dont live in a place where i can use it a lot, and my parents never bought it for me lmao), and while i never got the hang of being super bright to Everyone and im still kind of moody, i think she rly taught me to be lighter and not take myself too seriously, to always try to see the bright side of things and believe that everything will be alright.

5. Nino (ACCA: 13-ku Kansatsu-ka)

thats not an anime a lot of people watched, i think, and on that note, if @ u all didnt watch it, GO WATCH ACCA ITS SO GOOD UR LOSING OUT???, so theres prolly not a lot of people who would put nino in their top 5 favorite characters lmao

but hes absolutely worthy of it. its fascinating to see the mystery of his identity and actions throughout the anime slowly unravel itself. i even wrote a oneshot that delved into what he was doing and what he was thinking as the events of the show progressed, trying to fill the blanks that the canon didnt show. ill try not to be spoilery w this one bc i want u all to find out for urselves, but i love ninos intelligence, his attitude and his strong loyalty, and in that loyalty, the conflict he feels between his duty and his desire. the episode that shows his past is one of my favorites bc its so heartrending. i love how naturally he fits in with jean and lotta and how the three of them look like a family. anyway, watch acca and love nino w me ♡

okay so im ngl i mainly watch the olympics for swimming, diving, volleyball, and gymnastics, and those are all summer sports, but that one when you ski and shoot things at the same time sounds pretty banging. also freestyle skiing and snowboarding are cool too.

so. the thing about va. is that. we dont have SPORTS! we kinda bum off everyone around us, which means for college basketball, we go to duke vs TARHEELS WOOT WOOT (also its hilarious that nc state thinks that theyre somehow in the picture for that rivalry like lmao) and then i think the cavaliers do okay for themselves in football, and i think thats the closest we get to a Known team from va? also we have the tides in norfolk, who feed into the orieles, but like does anyone actually follow the minor leagues??? and because the nationals in dc are closer, everyone follows them instead of the orieles for the majors so its just wah???? and then obvi the redskins (whom i did not realize where in dc for THE LONGEST time) for the nfl and that about it. my fam goes to tides games sometimes, and also penninsula pilots games, which are really fun bc its all homey and old school, and thats about the extent of my sports knowledge. yes technically local for me right now would be la but honestly fuck an la.

OH WAIT lego indiana jones. because im a fucking class act.

lin got off the bus. it was slightly cold, a wind blowing through the air. he helped you step off, watching you stumble as you tried to stretch out your legs the same time you walked down the steps. your friend, tanushka, followed behind dyou closely, taking a photo of the moment you almost fell over. 

“i hate you” you muttered, making her laugh. you guys all stretched, yawned, and shook out the tiredness in your body. then you started to walk towards the large swarm of people that was your new zealand group.  “hey guys!’ you called, making them walk towards you. 

“and who may this little guy be?” Lin laughed, leaning down to say hi to Tanushka’s little brother, Avi. 

“im not little!” he pouted, crossing his arms and glaring at Lin. Another snapshot later, lin was introduced to everyone in your family, and they felt comfortable with him. your mom asked if you were sure you didn't faint when you met him, making Lin tilt his head back in laughter. soon you guys were supposed to go on the cruise. you walked to the line, Lin following you closely. then, another one of you family friends arrived. 

“hey babe!” he winked, making you gag. you through a soggy french fry at him, and he dramatically fell over. you threw your hands in the air and leaned beside him, holding his hand close to your heart. 

“i-im sorry! i didn't know” you pretend to cry.

“its too late- i see my son on the other side. carrie fisher? is that you?” he looks at you, then goes limp in your arms. in a matter of seconds you two were laughing again, hurled on the floor. the parents glared at you two for making such a big scene but you two didn't care. Lin was glaring at you for a different reason. 

“what?” you asked Lin, dusting yourself off. 

“nothing.” he says through gritted teeth, turning the other way so you couldn't notice the redness in his face. tanushka does, though, and winks at him, nudging his arm with her elbow. lin growls at her, only making her laugh. 

“anyways, richie, don't ever do that again. ill tell your girlfriend you were cheating on her!” you scold him. girlfriend? lin thought, eyebrow arching in surprise. 

“ishita-my love- no! don't tell her! ILL PAY YOU ANYTHING!” he gets on his knees. you roll your eyes, pull out your phone and ring her up. 

“hey, ishita? yeah this is y/n, your boy giggles was cheating on you by trying to flirt with me. yeah he's right here. you want me to give the phone to him? ok!” you laugh and hand gang the phone, and he glares at you. 

“hey babe...” he starts nervously, making you cackle. Lin grins at you, and you return the favor by planting a kiss on his cheek. you hand the ferryman your ticket and hop onto the cruise. 

you ask lin for a picture at the upcoming waterfalls. he eagerly nodded. you laughed and led him to the front of the deck, where tanushka grabbed your phone. 

“say indians are cheap!” she laughed. 

“indians are cheap!” lin laughed out loud, grinning. 

“indians are- oh my god is that a dolphin?” you cut off your sentence, and while you tried to point to the dolphins, your hand forcefully hit lin’s chest, making him fall over the rails and into the freezing water below. 

“lin!” you yell frantically, quickly going over your training as a lifeguard in your head and then throwing over the closes lifeline into the water. you saw lin was struggling to stay up, so you stood on the railing and jumped into the water. it was schocklingly cold, but you worked through it and pulled lin onto the life boat. soon, authorities arrived, helping you back onto the boat. dozens of blankets and towels were draped over the two of you, but in the end you two snuggled closer together to cope with the cold. your family group came rushing in to check on the two of you. 

“are you guys ok?” they kept asking, and you kept nodding. there were a few more miles to go before they reached the turning point and at which the boat would turn around and head home. the captains brought you some fresh clothes to change into and you accepted them gratefully. of course, they were all oversized merchandise, but they were warm. after you changed into them, you and lin snuggled into each other inside the rooms, three blankets meticulously placed to cover each and ever part of you two. you sighed contentedly into lin’s chest as you drank the hot soup the on-board chef and supplied. 

“Y/N!! LIT MANNY!! you guys still haven't gotten that waterfall picture!” tanushka said, pulling off the blanket form the two of you. you rolled your eyes, groaning as you got up. you called to lin. 

“this picture isn't gonna take itself” you laughed, pulling him up. 

tanushka instructed you two until you were in a perfect position. you rolled your eyes at her perfectionism, but knew it would turn out great, so you didn't complain.

your lips were entangled with his, and the flash of the picture went on. crowds of people around the ship whooped and cheered and clapped, making you and lin blush. he shyly looked towards the floor as you gazed back at him. 

“what was that for?” “nothin” he mumbled. you brought your hand to his chin and turned his face towards yours. you planted a kiss on his nose, and then grabbed his hand as you led him towards the couch you two were cuddling on. 

it had been about two months since that encounter with lin. lin hadn't stopped thinking about you, not the entire flight home, not the drive back to his house, not the nights he spent trying to sleep. he needed to see you again. in the back of his mind, a plan was devising.

you sighed in happiness, gripping the phone and collapsing on your bed. you glanced at the calendar. only a week more. 

and a week more was the longest ‘and a week more’ you had ever experienced. day after day went by agonizingly slowly, and you shook your head in discontent. but then it was saturday, and anxiety slowly filled your stomach. when you got up, you spent at least an hour looking for clothes to wear. you knew you wanted to impress lin, but you didn't want to seem to desperate. as you put yet another shirt down, you got a call. you checked the caller id, and there, in all his adorkable-ness was lit manny. you stifled a scream and answered it, putting it on speaker and setting it down on the bed as you checked more clothes. 

“hey lin! whats up?” you reach into the back of the closet and pull out a thin blue see-through shirt. you rolled your eyes in disgust and threw it into the growing pile of clothes. 

“nothing much! just checking up to confirm what time you're gonna be there. i was hoping you could come a little earlier? i want you to meet the cast- they all want to meet you”  “oh my gosh! gahhh! of course! what time?” you looked at the clock. it was 3:45 and the showing was at 8. 

“maybe around 6:30? if thats good enough-” “of course! ill be there!” you quickly cut him off, regretting your decision immediately. 

“oh, thats great! see you then!” he hung up, leaving you to shake your head. you really needed clothes. you limply threw your arm into the very back of your closet and lifted up a box. interested, you opened it up. the tape from the amazon package still hadn't been taken off. instead, in purple sharpie, it read. 

“when y/n needs clothes for a date and doesn't have any because theyre a fucking idiot” in tanushkas handwriting. you grinned wildly and opened it up, revealing the perfect outfit. even in tanshkas absence she was still saving your ass in relationships. 

you grabbed your backpack by the straps as you walked into the city. just three turns away lay both lin and the musical of your dreams. you shivered at the cold, but you didn't mind the biting wind. as you neared the theatre, you spotted the musical poster and started to grin. and you didn't stop until you reached inside. 

you had caught lin off guard in mid conversation. a wide smile donned his face as he walked towards you to meet him. he was talking to some of his fans and apologized as he led you inside. 

“so, how have you been?” he asks,, rubbing his hands together to generate warmth. 

“great. you?” you reply, setting your things down on a table. 

“wonderful. hows that family of yours?” “still nice i guess.” it was awkward silence, before lin suddenly stood up. 

“let me introduce you to the cast!” “oh my god of course! you have no idea how nervous i am right now!” you laugh, then walk with him to another room. 

“they'll love you! don't sweat it!” he chuckles, and leads you by arm to a group of people intently watching the tv screen, an episode of sponge bob playing. 

“hey guys! this is y/n!” they all turned and clamored around you, giving you compliments and laughing at lin and telling you how much he talked about you. you shyly averted your eyes to the floor and was in total starstruckedness. 

“wow guys, um, I'm a really big fan of all you!” you laugh, and they laugh with you. they all give you hugs and sit you on the couch. 

“you can chill here until the show, we've all got to get ready!” lin says, and the room is suddenly empty. you immediately text tanushka

you were crying so hard. you had seen hamilton live, and your life goal was complete. you started to walk out before someones hands grabbed your arm. 

“y/n! wait! i wanted to hang out a little bit!” lin says, pulling you back into the theatre. you wiped your eyes, embarrassed, and rubbed your arms. why was san francisco so cold. 

“lin that was amazing. i know you didnt act in it at all but just, god you are such a genius. i could never write music that brings so much emotion, that is so perfectly created with each detail hand crafted” you look up at him with adoration. he kissed you. when his lips touched yours, a feeling of erratic calm set over your heart. you weren't in love, but you were definitely in something right now.. you brought your arms to his waist and deepened the kiss. 

as he pulled back, he whispered, “thank god for the bus.” you nodded in agreement.

Tobio: We're boarding our bus now. We'll get to Tokyo around 5am.

Akira: Have a safe trip.

Yuutarou: When does your first game start?

Tobio: Two days from now. We have a day for sightseeing and one for training.

Tanaka arrives last, muttering something about his sister and dramatic goodbyes, and they finally make their way to Tokyo.

Kageyama looks out of the window at Karasuno High School with its closed lights and empty hallways. Under normal circumstances, tomorrow would just be another day for weekend training. However, tomorrow they would be miles away in a different city, participating in a tournament that could make a mark in the history of the Karasuno VBC.

"What'cha thinking about Kageyama?" Hinata asks next to him. Despite the darkness of the night, his eyes are still bright, still full of spark and ready for the next challenge.

"Nothing," he answers, but Hinata catches him fiddling with his cellphone.

"They're not coming?" Hinata asks, understanding immediately.

Kageyama sighs, turning away to look out of the window. The bus has exited the school now and is slowly rumbling down the hill. Their teammates are absorbed with talking to each other or trying to sleep. "Our first game is on Monday. They have classes. Of course they can't come."

"Do you want them to?"

Kageyama lowers himself in his seat-he is still unused to someone asking about his feelings-but Hinata's eyes are bright and patient. He'd be lying if he said he doesn't trust him after all they've been through together.

"I miss them," he says, finally putting away his phone. His wrist itches the farther they go. "It hasn't been that long since we got back together again. We promised each other in middle school that we'd go to Nationals together someday. To go there without them...it feels...it's just...it-"

"It doesn't feel right," Hinata finishes for him.

The bus finally arrives at the foot of the hill. It passes by Sakanoshita Store and Ukai-san looks out the window with a faraway look in his eyes.

"Yeah."

Silence passes between them. The bus passes by closed houses, closed shops and cafes, an occasional open store and quiet, empty streets. Everyone is still wide awake, talking in hushed voices. It hasn't quite sink in that they're on their way to Nationals.

"I think they'd go if they can, Kageyama."

"I know."

In a few minutes, they're out of Miyagi and Kageyama feels the distance stretch between him and his soulmates. His wrist burns.

In their world, soulmates are marked with numbers on their wrist corresponding to the physical distance between them.

Kindaichi and Kunimi both lay in bed, watching as one set of their numbers steadily increases and the other one remains the same.

Kageyama watches as the both sets of his numbers rise until he falls asleep, slumped against Hinata.

11:37am, [0m] [365000m]

The Aoba Johsai Men's Volleyball Club had a tradition that every two weeks they'd meet up and hang out outside of volleyball practice. Today they're at a ramen shop they always frequent after games and the owner jovially greets them and ushers them to a long table in the corner. Everyone's being loud and cheerful, the pain of losing semifinals only a memory behind them.

The noise distracts Kindaichi from looking at his numbers as he joins in cheering on the arm wrestling match between Kyoutani and Hanamaki. Next to him sits Kunimi who is frowning down at his wrist. While Kindaichi seems to be able to distract himself, he can't stop thinking about his numbers and worrying about Kageyama. Being a poly bond, all of them have two sets of numbers. While him and Kindaichi have a set saying 0m, Kageyama has both sets showing the enormous distance between them.

Oikawa, who has been unexpectly quiet the whole afternoon, takes a look at both of them, at the upset look on Kunimi's face and forced smile on Kindaichi's. It prompts him to make the announcement.

"I won't be going to school tomorrow."

His voice is loud enough to carry over the entire table. The arm wrestly match abruptly stops, the cheering dies down as the team looks at their captain and Iwaizumi scowls.

"Where the fuck are you going then?" Iwaizumi asks, concern masked under the gruff statement.

"To Tokyo," when he says this, he looks at Kunimi and Kindaichi as if the knew the exact effect his words will have on them.

They're distracted by the arrival of their food. Iwaizumi waits until everyone is tucking in before bumping Oikawa in the shoulder. "I'll cover for you."

"Don't you always do that anyway?" Oikawa smiles, genuine. Iwaizumi snorts and starts eating his ramen. "There's a problem though."

"What's that?"

"If you're covering for me-" Oikawa levels a look at Kunimi and Kindaichi, a knowing look on his face. "-who's gonna cover for  you two?"

It's one of the few moments Kunmi is convinced Oikawa is a psychic.

11:32pm, 365000m

Tooru: Find a way for Tobio-chan to cover up his soulmate marks tomorrow.

"What's with the role reversal?!"

"Sleepy-chan, Yuu-chan. Get in."

Kunimi eyes the light blue Cadillac dubiously. "Um..."

"Don't worry! I have my license already. We'll be fine."

"That's not very assuring, Oikawa-san." Kunimi says as he climbs in the back seat with his and Kindaichi's bags. Kindaichi tries to join him but is stopped by Oikawa.

"Go ride shotgun, Yuu-chan."

Kindaichi pales. "Do I have to?"

"Of course." Oikawa steers him to the front seat and all but pushes him in. "That way I don't feel like a Mom chaffeuring her two kids to their first date."

"You'll survive," Kunimi says in consolation, patting his shoulder. Kindaichi gives him a withering look as puts on his seatbelt.

Oikawa slides in the driver's seat, checks all the mirrors and puts on his seatbelt. "I got Kuroo-chan to convince Tobio-chan to cover his marks. That way it will be a surprise."

"Thanks Oikawa-san," Kunimi says and Kindaichi echoes his sentiments. It's not just about the surprise, it's for everything—lying smoothly to their parents about their whereabouts, getting Iwaizumi to cover for them at school, driving them in the first place.

Oikawa understands what they mean and looks fondly at his two juniors. "You're welcome. A captain has to look out for his team, y'know?"

The tender moment lasts for about two seconds until Oikawa shoots out of the driveway and narrowly misses hitting a trash can on their way out.

10:02am, 9500m

Kuroo stares at his numbers. They've been steadily decreasing since morning. A flutter of anticipation washes over him at the thought of seeing Oikawa again. The last time they saw each other had been last summer when Nekoma went to Miyagi for a practice match and he snuck out to see Oikawa for a few minutes.

"Um...Kuroo-san?"

Kageyama is standing in front of him, fidgeting with the bandage on his wrist. "Can I take it off now?"

"No!" he bursts out, starlting both of them. "Not until they get here."

"Not until who gets here?"

Shit. "U-Until Kenma or Akaashi gets here. You can ask them when to take it off. I don't really know. Must be a setter thing." Kuroo laughs nervously, scratching at his cheek with his index finger. Kageyama follows the movement, eyes zeroing in on the numbers on Kuroo's wrist.

"Your soulmate is coming?"

Fuck. "Ah...yeah...He'll be here at the opening ceremony. I hope."

"Shit." Oikawa looks out into the sea of cars before him. They were already inside Tokyo, but the stadium where Nationals was being held was still far away. To top it off, they were stuck in traffic, squeezed between a truck and a minivan and the noise of Tokyo's streets pounding through the windows.

"Are we going to make it?" Kindaichi asks worriedly, scratching at his numbers. They haven't changed for a while now. "The program starts at 11."

Oikawa glances at Kunimi in the mirror. He is rubbing at his wrist restlessly as if it would make the numbers change faster. To his side, Kindaichi sticks his head out of the window to look at the traffic light up ahead. Oikawa looks down at his own mark. The number marked there is practically mocking him, telling him he's close but it's not enough.

"Kindaichi, get back inside. Kunimi, seatbelt now."

The use of their real names prompt his two juniors to scramble for their seats. Up ahead, the light turns green and the cars start moving forward. When the truck in front of them moves he turns to face both of them, an intense look in his eyes.

"Do not tell Iwa-chan about this," he stresses. They nod furiously.

Oikawa floors it.

"What the fuck?!" Kuroo exclaims as he watches the number on his wrist rapidly decrease. "What is he doing?"

"Your soulmate must be excited to see you." Kageyama comments, unknown to him that his numbers are doing the same beneath the bandage. He removes his eyes from Kuroo's decreasing numbers when he catches sight of yellow and white jerseys down the hallway. "Oh, I see Akaashi-san. I'll ask him about the bandage."

"Kageyama wait!"

Kindaichi has done suicide laps until he fainted, he went sky diving from a plane on a dare, he experienced a forty feet drop off a roller coaster.

None of that could compare to Oikawa Tooru's driving.

The scenery blurs outside the vehicle as Oikawa weaves through the traffic and goes through the smallest of spaces as if he is simply looking for cracks in a blocker's defense. Kindaichi yelps as they almost crash into an electric pole if not for Oikawa making a sharp turn that almost lifted one side of the car.

Kunimi has his eyes closed in the back seat, trying to ignore all the chaos. Kindaichi itches to hold his hand for comfort but it's currently busy holding on to the safety bar above his head for his dear life.

And if he somehow broke said bar during the ride, he'll apologize to Iwaizumi later.

Assuming Iwaizumi won't be too busy killing Oikawa for this.

"A lucky charm for setters?" Akaashi raises a brow, confused.

"Kuroo-san said you and Kenma-san do it before games." Kageyama raises his wrist to reveal the bandage wrapped around it. "When can I remove it?"

Akaashi looks behind Kageyama to where Kuroo is making cross motions with his hands.

"You can take it off now, if you'd like," he says, smile borderline sly.  Kuroo's jaw drops. "I don't know about you, but I don't like hiding my soulmate mark."

"Fucking hell Akaashi!"

Kunimi staggers out of the car, dropping on his knees on the asphalt of the parking lot.

"Oh sweet land, I am never leaving you again," he mutters, pressing his cheek on the ground.

"Now's not the time for a nap," Oikawa says. His hair still artfully styled after the ride. What the hell? He's helping a pale Kindaichi out of the car. "I'm calling Kuroo-chan!"

"Huh?"

Kageyama stares at his numbers in disbelief. This morning it was 365200, but now it was only 15?

"Looks like your soulmates are nearby. I'd go find them if I were you. The ceremony starts in a few minutes," Akaashi says before walking back to the clustered Fukurodani players.

Kuroo pulls out his phone at an incoming text.

Tooru: We're here!!! Lobby, near the player's entrance. Hurry!!!

"Sawamura! I need to borrow your setter for minute. Yaku, keep an eye on the team!"

Ignoring their indignant shouts, Kuroo grabs Kageyama by the arm and bolts.

Kunimi is someone who values his sleep. Few things hold rapture over him than the bliss of a nap. However, included in those few things are his boyfriends. It's why he let Kindaichi burst through his bedroom door at 5am in the morning. It's why he willingly skipped class just to drive four hours to Tokyo. It's why he's standing here right now.

Kindaichi's heart has just returned to its normal pace after Oikawa's driving from hell, but the sight of Kageyama appearing in the lobby makes it speed up again. A large smile fills his face at the look of surprise and utter happiness on Kageyama's face at the sight of them.

Kageyama stares at them. Is it really-?

"But school--"

"There are two hundred days in a school year." Kunimi says, stepping up and cupping his cheek. "But only one day for our boyfriend's Nationals debut."

"But how--"

"Oikawa-san drove us." Kunimi buries his hear in Kageyama's black uniform jacket. "We had to wake up at dawn to make it on time." He nuzzles against him, letting out a soft yawn.

"Are you still sleepy?" Kageyama asks, running a hand through his hair.

"Worth it. You're always worth it, Tobio."

"Unlike you, Kunimi is not good in sleeping in a moving vehicle. Especially if it's Oikawa-san driving." Oikawa makes an affronted noise a few feet away but it's drowned out by his giggles as Kuroo peppers his face with kisses, arms wrapped around Oikawa's waist.

Kindaichi tries to pull Kunimi off Kageyama. "Come on, if we get inside now you can take a nap before the opening ceremony."

"Wait." Kunimi pulls away but he still has a hand gripping Kageyama's jacket. He pulls him down by the fabric and presses a kiss on his cheek. When Kunimi lets go, there's a smirk on his face. "Go kick some ass."

Kageyama grins, feral, determined and beautiful all at once. "Count on it."

Kindaichi kisses the top of his head. "Show the world what you can do."

"So I'll just show you two then?"

They look at him in confusion.

Kageyama smiles. "You two are my world after all."

Forget Oikawa's driving, it's Kageyama's smile that kills them in the end.

Someone else hit my car while it was parked. It was very cut-and-dry. I got a police report, the officer talked to the driver. It states that my car was legally parked and the other driver is at fault. The damage is minor rear bumper damage, nothing too terrible. I filed with his insurance company, and after a lot of frustrating phone tag, an insurance adjuster came out and wrote me an estimate for $450. I had an adjustment for $734 from the local body shop for my make of car, and I showed it to him. I expressed my dissatisfaction with this estimate, and he said the body shop would settle with the insurance company directly for costs in excess of the estimate. $300 is a little much. Since it's minor damage, I think the body shop will probably take the money and do a shoddy job on the car. It's my understanding they are supposed to repair my car to pre-accident conditions. We do not live together but we live in the same state. I am willing to pay for both policies. mine and hers.
